Take a step back in time with a scenic ride on Maine Narrow Gauge!

Our roundtrip train ride is approximately 3 miles long and takes 40 minutes per trip. Along the way, you'll get scenic vistas of Casco Bay, see exciting new developments along Portland's waterfront, and pass lighthouses, marinas, forts, public parks, and even a beach! 

Narration is offered onboard and highlights scenic points of interest, as well as describes the unique history of narrow gauge railroading in Maine.

Daily Service Coach Class Tickets:
Adults: $16 | Seniors: $14 | Children (Age 3-12): $10 | Children 2 and under: FREE
Coach Class seating is unreserved General Admission.
Additional ticketing fees apply.

First Class Service:
Adults: $21 | Seniors: $19 | Children (Age 3-12): $15 | Children 2 and under: FREE 
First Class fare includes an individual reserved padded seat, a complimentary snack, and a complimentary beverage.

Special Event Coach Class Tickets:
Adults: $21 | Seniors: $19 | Children (Age 3-12): $15 | Children 2 and under: FREE
Coach Class seating is unreserved General Admission and includes a giveaway, dependent on the nature of the special event.
Additional ticketing fees apply.

Special Event First Class Service:
Adults: $26 | Seniors: $24 | Children (Age 3-12): $22 | Children 2 and under: FREE 
First Class fare includes an individual reserved padded seat, a complimentary snack, and a complimentary beverage.

Guests in need of mobility assistance:
Our platform is equipped with an ADA access lift that can accommodate wheelchairs and powerchairs. Please inform the Ticket Agent or Conductor when you arrive if you would like this service.

All trains depart from the station at 49 Thames Street, Portland, Maine 04101.

On operating days, our train station and gift shop are open before and after the last train time.
Two restrooms and a baby changing area are available inside the station. There are no restrooms aboard the train.

Please note that Maine Narrow Gauge cannot provide or advise on parking. Hourly street parking and paid lots are available in a short walking distance from the station. Learn about parking in the City of Portland.

Due to the general nature of our railroad and historic equipment, we cannot guarantee steam or diesel power on any given train. 

All tickets are non-refundable, non-transferrable, and non-exchangeable.

FIRST CLASS SERVICE

Indulge in a First Class experience: ride on an exquisite wooden passenger train car. Take in the best views on the train of Casco Bay from your reserved, individual, comfortable, padded seat.

The First Class experience includes a complimentary snack and beverage from the train station's gift shop for each First Class passenger. Make sure to grab your items before boarding! 

Your First Class ticket helps fund Maine Narrow Gauge's ongoing preservation efforts of historic rail equipment.

Unfortunately, dogs cannot be accomodated in First Class cars. Your furry friend is welcome in our Coach Class cars!

*First Class coaches are ADA-compliant. Passengers who require ADA seats are charged the Coach Class fare. ADA seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. 

COACH CLASS SERVICE

Experience narrow gauge railroading from a selection of authentic historic passenger railway cars, new-build replicas, and even a 1903-built caboose! Coach Class passenger cars offer a mix of bench seating and classic 1x1 seating. During the warmer months, open-air passenger cars are offered for unobstructed views and excellent airflow. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in Coach Class.
