Our 40-minute, 3-mile narrated train ride offers some of the best waterfront scenery in Portland, Maine.
You’ll ride in a lovingly restored narrow gauge train car, take in the sights of Casco Bay (including marinas, lighthouses, old forts, and even a beach), and meet our friendly train crew.
You will learn from onboard narration all about Portland’s history, as well as the legends of narrow gauge railroading in Maine.
No matter your age or interest, there’s always fun to be had and something new to see on our narrated train ride!

Take a step back in time with a scenic ride on Maine Narrow Gauge!
Our roundtrip train ride operates in the spring, summer, and fall. The train ride is approximately 3 miles long and takes 40 minutes per trip. Along the way, you’ll get scenic vistas of Casco Bay, see exciting new developments along Portland’s waterfront, and pass lighthouses, marinas, forts, public parks, and even a beach!
Narration is offered onboard and highlights scenic points of interest, as well as describes the unique history of narrow gauge railroading in Maine.

Unfortunately, we cannot hold the train for latecomers for reasons including, but not limited to: traffic, parking, illness, or a ticketed group not together at the time of departure. Please ensure that all members of your party are onboard at the listed departure time.

Due to the general nature of our railroad and historic equipment, we cannot guarantee steam or diesel power on any given train.
